‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’ Unveils Official Trailer, Promises an Action-Packed Finale as Milla Jovovich’s Alice Returns to Raccoon City to Battle Dr. Isaacs

Milla Jovovich returns to play Alice in Paul W.S. Anderson's 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter'

‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’ recently unveiled its official trailer featuring Milla Jovovich’s return as Alice. In the new trailer, Alice is seen returning to Raccoon City to fight the ultimate battle with her maker Dr. Alexander Isaacs.

According to Dread Central, the official trailer for director Paul W.S. Anderson’s sixth and final installment in the post-apocalyptic zombie horror cinematic series ‘Resident Evil’ was finally released along with two international versions ahead of the scheduled premiere for January 2017.

Milla Jovovich returns to battle monsters and men as the main protagonist Alice, a former high-ranking security operative for the Hive and Umbrella Corporation experiment. Although Alice is not an actual character from Capcom’s original video game series of the same name, she is a principal character in the films and was first introduced in 2002’s ‘Resident Evil’.

The footage in the various trailers shows Alice returning to Raccoon City, a small industrialized locale in Midwestern United States that was destroyed during the T-virus outbreak of 1998. Alice is set to have a final showdown with her maker Dr. Alexander Isaacs, portrayed by Iain Glen of ‘Game of Thrones’ fame.

Joining Jovovich in the sixth installment’s cast are Ali Larter as Claire Redfield, Shawn Roberts as  Albert Wesker, William Levy as Christian, Eoin Macken as Doc, Lee Joon-gi as Commander Li, and Ruby Rose as Abigail.

According to Geek.com, the upcoming film will pick up immediately after the events of ‘Resident Evil: Retribution’ released last September 2012. ‘Retribution’ drew mixed reviews from critics but was deemed a box office success. It earned $240.16 million worldwide on a production budget of $65 million.

Despite constant negative reviews, the ‘Resident Evil’ film series proved itself to be the highest-grossing series adapted from video games. According to The Numbers, the series collectively earned $909.93 million worldwide from its first five movies namely 2002’s ‘Resident Evil’, 2004’s ‘Resident Evil: Apocalypse’, 2007’s ‘Resident Evil: Extinction’, 2010’s ‘Resident Evil: Afterlife’, and 2012’s ‘Resident Evil: Retribution’.

‘Resident Evil: The Final Chapter’ is an upcoming action-horror and science-fiction film scheduled to be released on January 27, 2017. It is written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson.

The film is produced under Capcom Company, Capcom Entertainment, Constantin Film Produktion, Davis-Films, Don Carmody Production, and Impact Pictures. It is distributed by Screen Gems in the United States.
