“Resident Evil 2 Remake” is launching on Jan. 25, 2019 and the demo videos released by Capcom got fans hyped for the upcoming reimagining. The game looks incredible already and contains that classic claustrophobic feel that most horror games lack.
Paired that with the slow movement of the character and the darkened gory hallways and “Resident Evil 2 Remake” delivers an incredible anxiety-inducing experience. And while everything else seems familiar, the reimagining provides a sense of freshness and crispness to the title that melds every sequence in a natural flow.
But what’s really got fans excited for “Resident Evil 2 Remake” is the presence of Tyrant/Mr. X. The teaser footage below showed the seemingly unstoppable antagonist marching towards you in relentless pursuit, uncaring how much firepower the character dishes out.
This is a great detail to include in “Resident Evil 2 Remake” since most horror games lose its apprehensive atmosphere whenever a player can simply mow down rows of zombies. There’s also the frustratingly wide crosshair of a firearm that makes it difficult to aim. Of course, better gear will surely provide a smaller crosshair for players but the point is to immerse gamers in a panic state early in the game.
The cut-scene animation is also nothing to scoff at. Sure, Capcom could provide more depth to the facial expressions of the characters but they’ve done a good enough job that fans will have a hard time complaining about it. Besides, horror genres thrive in gameplay anyway. And with “Resident Evil 2 Remake” looking right now, there’s no doubt it will rake in profits when it gets released.
The sales performance of the upcoming title is imperative for both Capcom and fans of the franchise since a successful launch of “Resident Evil 2 Remake” might mean that “Resident Evil 3: Nemesis” will be next in line. Hardcore followers of the franchise are already giddy at the thought of Nemesis sprinting down a hallway to get his fill of blood and guts.
Before that can happen, however, then “Resident Evil 2 Remake” first need to make a huge splash. If it does, there’s no doubt that the remake of “Resident Evil 3: Nemesis” will be the next one to get a modern treatment. Who knows, maybe Capcom is already hard at work in their studio for the next title.
