If the world is a banquet , the paintings of Kerry Hallam are an invitation to sit at the table and join the feast. For the past half century, Hallam's works have spirited away his thousands of collectors to experience an alluring atmosphere where the simple pleasures of life are simply magnificent. Hallam's lifetime of travels has continually called him to the sea, and his paintings lure one and all to be explored and discovered.
And now, one can discover the latest Hallam masterworks at an exclusive reception at Martin Lawrence Galleries Woodfield Mall location, sited just outside Chicago. The 6000 square foot showcase of fine art-which offers seasoned and new collectors alike the works of the finest 20th and 21st century artists including Chagall, Picasso, Warhol, Erté, Kondakova, Lalonde and many more will be hosting the famed British artist at an opening reception on Saturday, September 9th from 6-8pm.
Kerry Hallam is as refreshing and spirited as the enticing images, bold patterns and captivating compositions he creates. Born in Northern England, Hallam showed early artistic talent when he won a six-year scholarship to London University's Central College of Art and received formal training under British master painters. In fact, Britain's Royal Society of Artists in Watercolor recognized that talent, and included him in their ranks. he was also strongly influenced by the fauves, and has a strong affinity for the 19th century French Post-Impressionists, Cezanne and Van Gogh.
"We recognize songs that we have never heard. We remember the faces of people we have yet to meet. We are familiar with places we have never been. We all long for a chance to live, if only for a short time, a life that is perhaps more fulfilling, more rewarding, more nurturing or simply different than the one we have. We long for adventure; for romance; for a chance to start over in another time and in a new place"-Kerry Hallam
Enthusiasm is his currency, and his art is filled with vivid windswept seascapes and timeless, sun-dappled village scenes. In 1981, Hallam opened a studio and gallery on Nantucket Island. Inspired by St. Tropez and the French Riviera, Hallam returns frequently to renew his spirit. Noted for his power to evoke emotion, and his use of the opulence of light and distinctive color harmonies, Hallam translates the ordinary moment into the magical, inviting us to be revitalized by the world's simple pleasures. His panoramas continue to draw accolades, including a first-place award by the L'Association Pour le Promotion Artistique Francais. Hallam has been honored through innumerable one-man exhibitions around the world and is a main stay at all nine Martin Lawrence Galleries locations across the country. His work has been featured in newspaper, magazine articles as well as in PBS television specials.
Martin Lawrence Galleries, located in the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL, is proud to feature Kerry Hallam original watercolors, acrylics on canvas, nautical charts and hand-signed, limited edition graphics.
