When the ABC terrorism drama “Quantico” was ordered at the 11th hour, it was a shock for fans to know that some of the series’ regular cast members will no longer be returning to the show. Pearl Thusi, who plays the driven, disciplined lawyer Dayana Mampasi, and Yasmine Al Massri, who pulled double duty as twins Nimah and Raina throughout Seasons 1 and 2, earlier announced that they will no longer join the series. Original cast member Aunjanue Ellis and Russell Tovey, who became Season 2 regulars, are also not expected to return at least full-time.
But the good news is that star Priyanka Chopra and her fellow original cast members Jake McLaughlin and Johanna Braddy, and Season 2 addition Blair Underwood, will all be returning for Season 3, Deadline said. The addition of Chopra, in a way, helped clinched a renewal, as “Quantico” has been a strong international seller for ABC.
Season 3 will also now be helmed by “Code Black” executive producer and showrunner Michael Seitzman, who will be doing the same roles left by Josh Safran, Variety said. However, Safran will remain on board with the show, this time as a consultant. Seitzman, on the other hand, will still keep to his duties in the medical drama. “Quantico” and “Code Black” are both produced by ABC, where Seitzman is reportedly under an overall deal.
“Quantico” Season 3 has no debut date yet, but is expected to run at 13 episodes. With Chopra’s international following, it is expected to garner support in delayed viewing.
