Princess Anne and Camilla Parker Bowles reportedly have a wonderful relationship with each other. However, things were not always like this years ago.
Last month, the two female royals stepped out for the annual Christmas Day church service with the other members of the royal family. Coincidentally, Princess Anne and Camilla wore the same colored attire.
Camilla arrived at St. Mary Magdalene church in Sandringham before Princess Anne, and the minute that the Queen’s daughter arrived, she went straight to the Duchess of Cornwall. Prince Charles’ wife was quick to notice that they were wearing the exact shade of purple.
Princess Anne and Camilla ended up laughing at the coincidence, which proved that they get along well with each other.
“The Queen’s daughter is a woman who has often appeared to keep a polite and sometimes frosty-looking distance from some of the royal wives and this signal of what looked like easy-going friendship and shared fun with Camilla, who can often appear tense and rather anxious in public, did seem like a first,” body language expert Judi James told Express.
James also said that the very telling gestures between Princess Anne and Camilla reveal that not only are they close; they also have a mother-daughter relationship.
“Anne has never shown signs of being particularly close to her brother Charles, but she does seem to share a natural friendship that could even border on a daughter/mother bond with Camilla. Even their touch rituals in public are telling,” James said.
And on another occasion, the two female royals crossed paths at the racecourse and Princess Anne extended her palm to Camilla. The latter placed her hand over Princess Anne’s in a reciprocal gesture.
But several decades ago, Princess Anne and Camilla’s relationship was rather strained. After all, they fell in love with the same man. Princess Anne became smitten with Andrew Parker Bowles, but he ended up marrying Camilla.
Even though Camilla’s first marriage didn’t last, Princess Anne didn’t have the chance to rekindle her relationship with Andrew. Sources revealed that the latter didn’t take Princess Royal very seriously.
