‘Poldark’ season 3 will follow Ross and Demelza as they continue to struggle with the marriage following Ross’ infidelity. Meanwhile, Elizabeth’s baby will be a major part of the incoming season’s storyline.
According to The Week, season 2’s dramatic twists and turns ended with a fairly hopeful note, with Ross (Aidan Turner) deciding to stay in Cornwall for his wife Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) instead of going off to war once more. The two also shared a kiss after Demelza seemingly forgave him for sleeping with his former love interest Elizabeth (Heida Reed), which proved to be season 2’s most controversial plot point considering the nature of the scene.
Filming for season 3 is currently ongoing. The series’ major stars, namely Turner, Reed, and Tomlinson recently appeared in an interview to talk about the incoming season.
The video by PBS opened with Turner joking, “My brain is still not in season 3 mode yet. I’m not that smart. People dress me up in clothes and make me learn lines and push me on set – that’s all I can do. I can’t think a year ahead.”
Turner admitted that he was clueless about what plot points series creator Debbie Horsfield pulled out from the original novels of the same name authored by Winston Graham. He said that he didn’t know which parts of the novels would be adapted on the small screen.
Tomlinson also revealed that Ross and Demelza will need to hurdle Ross’ infidelity to make their marriage work. She said, “Once problems like that have taken place, it’s very hard to… you know… come back. It’s gonna be an interesting journey for the two of them.”
Meanwhile, Reed addressed one of the finale’s biggest questions raised about her character Elizabeth’s imminent pregnancy. She revealed that Elizabeth’s baby will be a major part of season 3’s storyline, considering the father of her unborn child remains unknown.
According to Culturess, new characters will also be making their way to the television adaptation including Demelza’s brothers Drake and Sam as well as Elizabeth’s cousin Morwenna.
‘Poldark’ season 3 is expected to return on BBC One sometime in 2017.
