‘Poldark’ season 3 is set to follow George and his continuing feud with Ross. It was speculated that the father of Elizabeth’s child may be Ross’, further intensifying the two men’s anger with each other. The father’s identity may soon be revealed in the incoming season.
According to iTech Post, the incoming season of BBC One’s British-American drama television series based on Winston Graham’s novels of the same name is set to follow the continuing feud between the ruthless banker George Warleggan (Jack Farthing) and the series’ anti-hero Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner).
In season 2, George took his long-term anger out on Ross to the next degree by marrying his enemy’s first love Elizabeth (Heida Reed). Ross attempted to dissuade Elizabeth by sleeping with her one fateful night, being unfaithful to his wife Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) in the process. Despite their intimate encounter, Elizabeth went ahead and married George much to Ross’ obvious disapproval.
Season 2’s cliffhanger finale revealed that Elizabeth was pregnant but she did not know who the father’s real identity was. It was speculated that the child may be Ross’, furthering complications between the two men.
According to The Week, it is highly possible that Ross and Elizabeth may end up together after all considering that Ross’ marriage with Demelza is not the happy union it once was. Angered by her husband’s unfaithfulness, Demelza sought revenge by attempting to seduce other men during a party but her better judgment convinced her not to take things further.
The final scene from season 2’s episode 10 saw Ross and Demelza sharing a passionate kiss on a cliffside in scenic Cornwall. It was presumed that Demelza may have finally forgiven her husband for his moment of madness.
Screenwriter Debbie Horsfield revealed during a previous interview that season 3 will continue to follow Ross in all his recklessness saying, "Ross is older, but not necessary wiser, and his recklessness sometimes costs him and his loved ones, dear… We're in for a rollercoaster ride where the stakes have never been higher."
‘Poldark’ season 3 is expected to return on BBC one sometime in the Spring of 2017. Season 3 was commissioned last July 2016, before season 2 aired.
