Aidan Turner plays Ross Poldark on BBC's 'Poldark'

‘Poldark’ season 3 finally released its newest trailer featuring familiar faces as well as brand new characters including Demelza’s brothers Drake and Sam and Elizabeth’s cousin Morwenna. Season 2’s finale, which aired last November 6, ended with a cliffhanger with Elizabeth not knowing the identity of the father of her unborn child.

According to Express, season 3 has finally unveiled the newest trailer featuring a host of new characters including Demelza’s long-lost brothers Drake and Sam as well as Elizabeth’s cousin Morwenna, who joins her in Trenwith as governess to her child. The trailer aired during the season 2 finale, which premiered on BBC One on November 6, 2016.

Harry Richardson will play the free-spirited Drake while Tom York will play the religious Sam. Elizabeth’s cousin Morwenna will be portrayed by Ellise Chappell. Other new characters include a sex-crazed vicar named Reverend Osborne Whitworth, played by Christian Brassington and an aristocrat named Hugh Armitage, played by Josh Whitehouse.

It was also reported that although Ross’s (Aidan Turner) servant Jud Paynter (Phil Davis) will not be appearing in the incoming season, his wife Prudie (Beatie Edney) will return. Returning cast members include Eleanor Tomlinson as Demelza, Aidan Turner as Ross Poldark, Heida Reed as Elizabeth Warleggan, Jack Farthing as George Warleggan, Ruby Bentall as Verity, Caroline Blakiston as Aunt Agatha), Luke Norris as Dr. Dwight Enys, and Gabriella Wilde as Caroline Penvenen.

According to Radio Times, creator and writer Debbie Horsfield teased during a previous interview, "We're thrilled to be kicking off series three with a fantastic array of new characters and a story which scales new heights of conflict, feuding, passion and drama.”

She continued, “Ross is older but not necessary wiser, and his recklessness sometimes costs him, and his loved ones, dear. We're in for a rollercoaster ride where the stakes have never been higher."

In the season 2 finale, Ross and Demelza were seen patching things up while Dr. Enys and Caroline finally reunited after separating for a while. Meanwhile, Elizabeth discovers that she is pregnant but doesn’t know who the father is despite being married to George.

‘Poldark’ season 3 is expected to premiere on BBC One sometime in 2017 and is already in production. The series is based on the novels of the same name authored by Winston Graham.
