As the Western “Persona 5 Royal” release date approaches, developer Altus teased fans by releasing a new teaser. It shows the main characters - collectively known as The Phantom Thieves - including the recent addition Kasumi Yoshizawa as well as some of the new features of the game.
In a blog post, PlayStation.com also featured Kasumi Yoshizawa, the new “Persona 5 Royal” character. Kasumi is a new transfer student that actually enrolled at the Shujin Academy around the same time as the protagonist did but will only get into contact with him later on.
Yoshizawa is a very good gymnast as she has been raking in various awards for the sport since her middle school years. Shujin Academy is pleased to have her as a student as she could give the school a boost in prestige in the future with her superb talent.
According to the post, the character’s Metaverse costume’s design is intentionally done to mirror that of Jokers. She dons an all-black getup with a pair of red gloves to complete her stylish look. In the English version of the game, she is voiced by actor Laura Post.
PlayStation.com also promised that it will be featuring the other “Persona 5 Royal” playable character in future posts. They include Protagonist (“Joker”), Yusuke Kitagawa (“Fox”), Ryuji Sakamoto (“Skull”), Ann Takamaki (“Panther”), Morgana (“Mona”), Haru Okumura (“Noir”), Makoto Niijima (“Queen”), Futaba Sakura (“Oracle”), and Goro Akechi (“Crow”).
Aside from the new “Persona 5 Royal” character, the teaser also showcased some of the new features of the upcoming game. For instance, there are cool new partner attacks when two characters combine their abilities. One such combination attack is Morgana turning into a bus so that Haru can launch grenades. Yusuke and Ryuji are also shown unleashing their combo attack to their enemies after they were disturbed while eating at a ramen bar.
Compared to the previous game “Persona 5,” there are other changes to the “Persona 5 Royal” gameplay aside from the introduction of combination attacks. For example, Joker can now use a grappling hook which allows in to access previously unreachable areas in the Metaverse.
The “Persona 5 Royal” is slated for its Western release on March 31 this year, a few months after it launched in Japan.
