BBC's post-World War I drama is ready for a bigger audience as “Peaky Blinders” season 5 moves to air from BBC Two to the network's bigger arm, BBC One. While fans may rejoice at the potentially larger audience that the series will be exposed to when “Peaky Blinders” season 5 hits the airwaves, the show's creator, Steven Knight, may have some worrying news.
“Peaky Blinders” season 5 will be skipping a year of release as the upcoming installment aims to air by spring of 2019. Steven Knight mentions in an exclusive interview with Express that a lot of the content for “Peaky Blinders” season 5 has yet to be put into writing.
While the show's creator has an idea for the upcoming installment's direction, he mentions that the legwork for it still needs to be produced for the upcoming year. Fans may have to wait until as late as the spring of 2019 for the show's return with “Peaky Blinders” season 5.
Thankfully the reasons for the show's broadcast delay are not due to any sort of conflict behind the scenes, and Steven Knight has been particularly transparent about why the show had to be moved to a 2019 premiere date. For those worried that the drastic changes the show is experiencing are due to its recent transfer from BBC Two to BBC One, Knight assures the fans that they can expect no significant changes to the show's plot and violence as it makes its move to BBC One.
The wait for “Peaky Blinders” season 5 may seem unbearable but at least the show has more good news to offset the drought. Steven Knight has also confirmed that “Peaky Blinders” season 5 will definitely be followed by seasons 6 and 7. It seems that fans of the show simply have to get over the six to eight months of anticipating the show's latest installment.
