While many fans are waiting for “Overlord” Season 4 to be announced, it’s a simple fact that it might take quite a while for this to happen. Production for the season has been delayed due to the light novel volumes not being finished yet. When it does air, fans will likely realize what the show has been hinting at for a long time. Ainz Ooal Gown is not a hero but a villain and a villain with no equal, at that.
Simply put, “Overlord” Season 4 is not coming out this year or even next year due to the fact that there is not enough material to work with, OtakuKart reports. Although there are already substantial amounts of storylines available, they don’t really offer the kind of contents that would end the season properly. It would not be satisfying to fans and the developers can just forget about going for a cliffhanger.
More than anything else, it is the quality of the story and the handling of the pacing that makes this anime so great. The fact that there are some interesting characters and plenty of violence are just bonuses. As such, “Overlord” Season 4 has a lot to live up to if it doesn’t want to be the last season of the series.
On that note, there are also other issues with regards “Overlord” Season 4 that might be causing its delay. Among them is the sheer gory details present in the light novels. Simply put, there are scenes in the upcoming season that could make “Goblin Slayer” blush. Of course, there is always the option not to include them, but anyone who believes that this would be the case is delusional.
With this being the case, the question of when “Overlord” Season 4 would come out is a bit difficult to answer. Considering the release period of the light novels, 2021 would be a good bet.
