“Outlander” season 5 will probably draw plot inspirations from Diana Gabaldon’s “The Fiery Cross” novel. And that leads to the possibility that the next season might feature Roger and Brianna as well as Murtagh and Jocasta tying the knot.
Roger and Brianna
One of the exciting developments that will most likely become part of “Outlander” season 5 is Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger’s (Richard Rankin) wedding. These two lovebirds have gone through a lot of challenges in season 4.
Brianna was raped by the notorious criminal Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers) and got pregnant. She went through all that while Roger was a prisoner in the Mohawk village. But, in the end, their love for each other prevailed and it will definitely be a running storyline in “Outlander” season 5.
Season 4 ended without a specific clue that a wedding awaits in “Outlander” season 5. But the show has already established how strong their love is for each other that the only way to go now is for them to get married and raise their baby. Preparations for their wedding is also one of the opening plots in “The Fiery Cross.”
Murtagh’s Future
“The Fiery Cross” will not offer any clues on Murtagh (Duncan Lacroix) because, in the books, the character already died in the third book. But one of the major storylines in “Outlander” season 5 will obviously center on Murtagh.
The final moments of season 4 showed the governor ordered Jamie to lead a militia and defeat the Regulators. But his top priority is killing Murtagh who had just escaped from prison. Of course, Jamie would not want to kill his godfather but turning down the governor's order will not be easy as well. The Frasers navigating around this very sticky situation will surely take a significant time in “Outlander” season 5.
Aside from Murtagh's fugitive status, he is also now the beloved man of Jocasta (Maria Doyle Kennedy). Jamie’s aunt did have a love interest at this point in the books but it was by the name of Duncan Innes. Jocasta is certainly on board of protecting Murtagh from the government so TV Insider’s suggestion that Lacroix’s character will be the embodiment of Duncan Innes is plausible. More importantly, Duncan and Jocasta got married in “The Fiery Cross” that means a Murtagh-Jocasta nuptial in River Run might be in pipeline.
