“Outlander” season 5’s pre-production works in Scotland has started and the cast, lead by Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe, are also expected to be back on the set any time soon. But before they go back to filming, the former updated the fans with some good news.
On March 6, via social media, Sam Heughan informed fans that he read some parts of the script and assured everyone that they will not be disappointed. He added that he too is excited and can’t wait to get to the set of “Outlander” season 5.
Perhaps, Caitriona Balfe’s co-star is talking about love scenes? It can be recalled that many viewers expressed their disappointments in last season’s run because it lacks Jamie and Claire’s intimate moments that were abundant in the previous seasons before the fourth installment aired.
As many were asking why there was “sex drought” in season 4, the show’s executive producer, Maril Davis, addressed the issue during the Television Critics Association winter press tour last month. "We've always talked about the sex scenes — we love them, too — but they have to be organic to the story. Sometimes that story, or the network or the studio, don't allow for those slow down times. ,” TV Guide quoted him as saying.
He added, “In the book, you can slow down. You have enough time to do the quiet moments between Jamie and Claire, and sometimes we didn't have a chance this season."
In any case, while fans have to wait for the premiere of “Outlander” season 5 to know what exactly Sam Heughan was talking about, here are some of the things that the viewers can expect in the upcoming installment. Firstly, it was confirmed that it will be based on Diana Gabaldon’s “Fiery Cross” book but it is not certain how far the TV adaptation will stick to the story.
Co-executive producer, Matthew Roberts, revealed that “Outlander” season 5 will be tough for Jamie and Claire and their growing family. This is because Fraser’s Ridge is now threatened after Governor Tyron asked Jamie to gather the soldiers and fight the Regulators.
This group is headed by Murtagh so Jamie has to go after him and kill him as the governor had ordered. But the man is Jamie’s godfather and close companion so this will be tough for him. He can choose to let him go but the governor will surely not let him off the hook thus their lives will be negatively affected either way.
“Murtagh is definitely going to cause some problems for Fraser’s Ridge, for Jamie, and for Claire,” Roberts told Parade. “Roger and Bree will have to find a footing. Just because that last beat in the story looked like everything was going to be happy, this is the Fraser clan. I don’t know that happily ever after is a phrase that Diana Gabaldon knows.”
