One of the much-awaited new characters in “Outlander” season 4 is Jamie's (Sam Heughan) aunt, Jocasta Cameron (Maria Doyle Kennedy), who does not seem friendly to Claire (Caitriona Balfe). Meanwhile, the titles of episodes 1 and 2 are out. What could they mean?
Fans will find Claire and Jamie (Sam Heughan) arriving in a new country and a new era in “Outlander” season 4, which is based on Diana Gabaldon’s “Drums of Autumn.” Hoping to have another new beginning, the Fraser couple will be staying at Jocasta’s estate in North Carolina and live their own American dream.
However, fans may have already noticed that Aunt Jocasta and Claire do not see eye to eye in the official video trailer for “Outlander” season 4. In one scene, Claire stares at several slaves working on Jocasta's plantation. While one slave woman works on the seams of her dress, Claire tells Jocasta, “I don’t agree with keeping people as property.”
Claire and Jocasta obviously have different views, which are not surprising considering Claire has been in a more advanced part of the world’s history. This difference, according to Caitriona Balfe, is also what will prevent these women from having a good relationship in “Outlander” season 4.
However, the actress also said that Claire and Jocasta will show similarities in their personalities in “Outlander” season 4 but those are not good enough to overlook their disagreements. “There’s a likeness between the two women, but for Claire it’s very hard to get past the fact that Jocasta is a plantation owner with slaves,” Balfe told Entertainment Weekly.
“Jocasta doesn’t understand what Claire’s concerns are,” the “Outlander” season 4 lead actress added. “That stops them from being able to really form any proper bond.”
Meanwhile, the titles for the first two episodes of “Outlander” season 4 have already been revealed. The season opener is fittingly titled “America the Beautiful,” hinting that it will cover Jamie and Claire’s arrival in North Carolina. A snippet of the “Outlander” season 4 trailer previews this scene.
On the other hand, “Outlander” season 4 episode 2’s title “Do No Harm” seems like a total contrast to the positive notion of “America the Beautiful.” ClaireandJamie.com speculates that the second episode could be mostly about Claire’s perspective wanting to save people at a time when slavery was prevalent and legally accepted.
The wait for “Outlander” season 4 is winding down. The season premieres on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 8 p.m. ET on Starz.
