Fans may have already seen “Outlander” season 4's trailer, which is full of new characters, locations, and potential new conflicts. But fans may also wonder where Brianna Fraser and Roger MacKenzie are in the whole scuffle.
The relationship between Brianna Fraser, played by Sophie Skelton, and Roger MacKenzie, played by Richard Rankin, plays a pivotal role in Diana Gabaldon's book series, but the younger pair's love story doesn't seem to be front and center for viewers of the television adaptation. Some fans speculate that this is due to fan receptivity favoring the original couple of Claire and Jamie Fraser. While this may be true, the season 4 trailer does not provide much detail on how it will get fans to consider the Brianna and Roger Mackenzie coupling as worthy of “Outlander” romance in season 4.
Season 3 last touched upon Brianna Fraser when she said farewell to her mother before Claire Fraser went back in time to her true love, Jamie Fraser. What we do know is that both Brianna Fraser and Roger MacKenzie are capable of traveling through time much like Claire Fraser. This might be opened up more as season 4 will progress, especially when pre-season 4 photo shoots show Brianna in period-appropriate clothing. The fact that the “Outlander” team has also confirmed a reunion between the Fraser father and daughter will happen in season 4 helps.
While the “Outlander” season 4 teaser trailer does not show the younger Fraser lady and MacKenzie in Aunt Jocasta's North Carolina farm, we do know that upcoming villain, Stephen Bonnet, will be encountering Brianna Fraser at some point to the dread of fans of the novels.
If ever the Brianna Fraser and Roger MacKenzie romance does take a brighter spotlight when “Outlander” season 4 comes around, fans may have to worry if Claire and Jamie Fraser's romance will last towards the end of the season considering the many time jumps and aging involved with the couple. Hopefully, Brianna Fraser and Roger MacKenzie can carry the series with their chemistry when it comes back in November should the potential end of the pioneer couple's love story come true at the end of the season.
