‘Outlander’ season 2, episode 9 will follow Jamie and Claire’s continuing adventures in rural Scotland after their return. Jamie prepares his troops for the Jacobite Rebellion while Claire struggles with flashbacks from her past.
The synopsis for episode 9 posted on Den of Geek stated, “Claire and Jamie reunite with the Lallybroch and MacKenzie men as they train for war. Jamie’s power struggles with Dougal and Claire's personal battle with her memories of WWII weigh upon them, but new, helpful information comes to light when a young Englishman named William Grey pays a surprise visit to their camp.”
It seems that things are heating up for Jamie and Claire Fraser after they returned to rural Scotland. The upcoming episode will find Jamie (Sam Heughan) preparing his allies for the imminent Jacobite Rebellion while Claire (Caitriona Balfe) continues experiencing flashbacks of her past life in the 1940s. She has difficulty coming to terms with the atrocities she faced during the war as a nurse but her knowledge of the future may prove useful to Jamie’s cause.
Screen captures from episode 9’s promo posted on Outlander TV News showed Jamie training men-at-arms on the countryside. It seems that the young leader may be facing new challenges ahead as he tries to inspire his people to fight the English. In the promo, Jamie confidently says, “These are my men. My clan… and I know how to prepare them for it.”
The previous episode, entitled “The Fox’s Lair”, followed Jamie and Claire’s homecoming to Scotland after struggling with the loss of their child Faith. They also find that Jamie’s home, Lallybroch, will be deeply affected by the Jacobite Rebellion looming ahead. They immediately set off for the estate of Jamie’s shady grandfather, Lord Lovat (Clive Russell), to ask for support by getting his men to join the rebellion.
‘Outlander’ season 2, episode 9 is scheduled to air on June 4, 2016. The television series is based on the historical time travel novels authored by Diana Gabaldon. It was developed by Ronald D. Moore and produced by Sony Pictures Television and Left Bank Pictures for Starz.
It originally aired on Stars on August 9, 2014 and earned generally positive reviews from critics and audiences.
