‘One Punch Man’ Season 3 release date: Third installment’s fate might be dictated by second entry’s DVD/Blu-Ray sales performance

“One Punch Man” Season 3 still hasn’t been announced. This comes as to no surprise since the second installment just recently ended.

But given that the series has now become a global sensation, there’s little doubt that “One Punch Man” Season 3 will be greenlighted. This is especially true if the DVD/Blu-Ray box sets sell like hotcakes again.

The box set for the first entry provided the show with considerable financial backing after its sales performance delivered hard following its release. The second installment, on the other hand, still doesn’t have this sort of cushion as the box set for it is slated for release on Oct. 25, MonsterAndCritics reported. If it does well, then “One Punch Man” Season 3 will undoubtedly be produced.

One Punch Man Season 3 might be affected due to the second installment’s animation quality

The problem is the animation quality. Where the first entry had dynamic camera work, slow-motion effects, and gorgeous transitions between fight scenes, the second one was poorly done. The animation was rigid; the fight scenes were underwhelming, and the movement – especially the kicks and punches – were all done with a sort of lazy flashes and fade-to-blacks that resulted in lackluster delivery, IGN reported. The good news for “One Punch Man” Season 3 is that the second entry has a few strengths up its sleeves that would contribute to the sales performance of its box sets.

One of them is the character development of Garou. Arguably the most riveting character in the entire series, Garou’s growth throughout the second season has been one of the reasons why fans kept coming back. Sure the guy has a penchant for bloodlust and delight in savaging heroes who are only doing their work, but he also holds an unshakeable principle that makes audiences root for him. The principle in question is that he doesn’t kill heroes. However, this will be tested in “One Punch Man” Season 3.

Orochi to give an ultimatum to Garou in One Punch Man Season 3

After the Monster Association saved Garou’s hide from the hands of Bang and Bomb, Orochi instructs him to bring him a hero’s head. The rank is inconsequential as the idea is for Garou to take a life. We’ll stop from here to avoid any more spoilers for “One Punch Man” Season 3.

So when is it going to be released? That’s up in the air at the moment. If the series follows the gap between the first and second installment, however, “One Punch Man” Season 3 might come out in 2021 or 2022. But if everything goes smoothly, we could be looking at a 2020 return, perhaps at the tail end of next year. Again, this is merely speculation as nothing has been announced so far.
