The alliance is getting a breakthrough in “One Piece” episode 948 with the impending reunion of several Akazaya Nine members. Their appearance alone would be enough to convince the thousands of Udon prisoners that it is time to once again fight back for Wano’s freedom from Orochi and Kaido.
‘One Piece’ episode 948 spoilers: Akazaya Nine’s reunion inspires Udon prisoners
Fans were left with the scene that officially introduced Kawamatsu that also clearly hints he is about to break free from his dungeon cell. It remains to be seen, though, how faithful “One Piece” episode 948 is going to be in the manga. Originally, Raizo comes out of his hiding place to throw in Kawamatsu’s sword and the key to his handcuffs allowing the latter to be free and fight his opponents.
The anime has also shown Kiku stepping into action after she was certain that the laugh she heard was of Kawamatsu. With the three of them out in the open, Hyogoro should immediately recognize them in “One Piece” episode 948 and would ask them to remove their disguises. In the manga, Kiku wore a mask that the prisoners immediately recognized as part of Oden’s group as they also recognize Raizo and Kawamatsu.
Like others, they are surprised to see Oden’s retainers since they have always thought all of Akazaya Nine died from the fire 20 years ago. Hyogoro is likely to state in “One Piece” episode 948 that when the prisoners, who all once supported Oden, see the Akazaya Nine in the flesh it would convince them to join Luffy’s cause.

It still would not be easy to convince all of them, though, because they are still stricken with fear of the Plague Bullets. It is at this point when Luffy decides to infect himself and then goes on in a speech where life in Udon makes its prisoners slave and reiterates his intentions to defeat Kaido. After his great pep talk, Luffy also fights despite being infected with the virus leaving a good impression on the Udon prisoners.
“One Piece” episode 948 will be released on Sunday, Nov. 1. There will be a simulcast on Crunchyroll and Funimation.
