'One Piece' episode 897 release date, spoilers: Luffy meets Zoro in Wano, fight with Hawkins happening

The Wano story arc took a couple of weeks of break to give way for a filler storyline linked to the “One Piece: Stampede” movie premiering in Japan this week. On the bright side, fans will be taken back to Wano starting on “One Piece” episode 897.

For a brief recap, “One Piece” episode 897 will pick from the meaningful flashback that revealed what Wano meant to Portgas D. Ace. Luffy learned that the late pirate became close to the people of Wano, especially to Tama. This inspired Luffy to carry on Ace’s hopes of freeing the oppressed people in the country that is under the control of Kaido’s Beasts Pirates.

It can be recalled that Luffy and the Thousand Sunny got separated from the rest of the Straw Hats upon entering Wano. Since then, he has spent most of this time in Wano with Tama and her master Tengu who is also a samurai. “One Piece” episode 897 is going to be exciting because Luffy will finally find a familiar face.

Luffy and Tama are about to start their travel to find a doctor or anyone who can cure her of the poison she ingested. But before leaving Amigasa, Luffy runs away with a “cursed sword” that Tengu does not want him to bring or use. However, their journey will be interrupted in “One Piece” episode 897 for both good and bad reasons.

Upon arriving at the wastelands of Wano, Luffy and Tama will see several wild animals running around because it turns out Roronoa Zoro is chasing after them. Luffy will be happy to see Zoro in “One Piece” episode 897, but their reunion will be cut short.

The brief preview of “One Piece” episode 897 confirms that the upcoming installment will cover the arrival of Hawkins and confronting Zoro and Luffy. The Straw Hat pirates will realize at this point that Hawkins has turned his back from his allies including Eustass Kid and has now joined Kaido’s army.

This encounter will offer some good fight scenes with Hawkins’s Devil Fruit in action, so this is going to be a good way for the anime series to return to the Wano story arc. “One Piece” episode 897 will air on Sunday, Aug. 11.
