‘One Piece’ chapter 988 release date, spoilers: Kinemon ready to kill Kaido as Yamato firmly reiterates he is on Oden’s side

The raid in Onisgashima is really starting now as Kaido already knows that the samurai, the Straw Hats Pirates and the others were able to infiltrate the island. “One Piece” chapter 988 will now be the official day when the war erupts as all the villains and protagonists have finally met in one place.

Luffy and his allies will now face Kaido and his group of antagonists so it is just a matter of time to see how Kaido will end up. It should also be noted that his son Yamato is not on his side but Luffy’s group who are ready to make Oden’s wish of opening Wano come true.

Of course, the Onigashima raid is also about avenging Oden’s execution in the hands of Kaido, 20 years ago. The Mink Tribe is also joining the fight and they pledge alliance with Luffy as well in “One Piece” chapter 988.

Events before the Onigashima raid

Before the raid fully breaks out, chapter 987 showed a flashback from the time when Kaido was about to execute Oden. While on the stage, Oden never stopped telling everyone about the greatness of his samurais then the present time returned.

Kaido just learned that the Red Scabbards are on the island and he was in disbelief because he did not know how they were able to survive when it has been 20 years already since they were supposed to be executed. The samurais then launched an attack and the banquet hall immediately became a battleground.

The samurais’ swords were able to pierce through Kaido’s body which shocked him because no sword could ever touch his body. A thought came to him and he assumed that the Scabbards’ swords were getting through him because of Ryou.

Luffy arrived with Yamato and the best pirates asked the latter for help thinking he is on his father’s side. But they were wrong as Yamato told them to back off because he is there to take down Kaido as well. Kid, Law and Zoro also entered the scene as they fight with Kaido’s top fighters.

With all these happenings, “One Piece” chapter 988 will surely show an all-out battle since it has begun already after Kaido accepted Luffy’s challenge. Kaido is fighting in his dragon form since he knows he needs that extra power or he will not be able to beat his foes.

Kaido should also be ready for the attacks of the Red Scabbards who he almost killed two decades ago. Big Mom will fight with the governor-general of the beast pirates but with Luffy and his allies fighting together, they may not beat them that easily. Kaido should also watch out for Kinemon who wants him dead.
