Nongshim, a leading South Korean food, and beverage company headquartered in Seoul, unveiled its new product this week. The company that is more popular for its Shin Ramyun instant noodle brand has entered the bakery snack market by launching Petit Paris.
Nongshim Co. introduced its new snack brand, which offers a bread roll snack that was described to taste like French toast, thus the name. It was reported that the company is set to release more products under its new Petit Paris brand.
Nongshim is aiming to become a pioneer in the snacks market through its new bakery products that are being sold as snacks in a bag. As mentioned in The Korea Times, the Petit Paris roll bread is sold in pouch packaging, and the company tapped Kpop star Jeon So Mi to be the brand model for the new snack.
The 21-year-old singer has already been featured in the Petit Paris TV commercial as well. The new product is expected to become as popular as the firm’s other food and beverage line consisting of instant noodles, bottled water, instant home meals, snacks, and more.
It was late last month when Nongshim’s chief executive officer, Jun Park, announced that they are planning to launch a new brand focusing on bakery snacks. With it, Nongshim is formally entering the bakery business.
“As there is high consumer demand for bread, cakes, and cookies, we expect Petit Paris bakery snacks to be popular as well,” an official at Nongshim said in a separate statement. “They go well with tea or coffee as desserts.”
Meanwhile, the local publication, Food Bank, reported that Nongshim chose to name its new bakery snack business “Petit Paris” because it has some meaning. If translated into English, the French words mean “small and cute Paris,” and Nongshim explained that for them, this also means one can experience the taste and delicacy of a European-style snack in a small pack.
The Petit Paris Rollbread is akin to the French toast that many people around the world love. Tit offers a savory yet sweet taste as it is made with eggs and maple syrup then shaped like a roll of bread in bite sizes. It is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside; thus, this snack will never go wrong, especially with bread-lovers.
