Nissin Food Products Co., Ltd. has launched a novel "Gaming Cup Noodle" with caffeine to cater to the long gaming sessions of esports enthusiasts. This Japanese instant noodle innovation comes in two tantalizing flavors, aiming to boost alertness and in-game performance.
Nissin Food’s new cup noodles are hitting the shelves of grocery and convenience stores in Japan with two variant offerings. This is a unique noodle since it contains caffeine, a substance commonly found in coffee and works as a mild cognitive enhancer to increase alertness and attentional performance.
At any rate, gamers play all night long to help them stay awake throughout the game, which often lasts for hours. Many players drink coffee or other beverages with caffeine to keep up with the play. Nissin is aware of this trend, so it created the new Gaming Cup Noodles.
The Japanese instant noodle producer is now catering not only to noodle-loving consumers but has added the gaming community to its target customers. Gamers may choose from two flavors of the caffeine-infused Gaming Cup Noodle: the Energy Garlic & Black Pepper Yakisoba and the Meshi Energy Ginger Keema Curry.
These noodles promise to provide the energy that Nissin said will improve the player’s strength, defense power, movement speed, and resilience while in the game.
Japan Post reported that the new Nissin Gaming Cup Noodle is arriving in stores across Japan on Sept. 18. It will be sold for retail prices of 280 yen or about US$1.91 and 298 yen.
In addition to caffeine, each cup is said to contain arginine (a type of amino acid) and niacin. The packaging on the Gaming Cup Noodle is designed with the video game in mind. Thus, it has glowing neon colors on a black background, similar to a gaming screen.
