“Narcos: Mexico” was the official title given to “Narcos” season 4. Apparently, the change was done because the setting was moved from Colombia to Mexico.
The fourth installment was released on Nov. 16 via Netflix so fans were able to watch all 10 episodes in one sitting. As everyone already knows, it is typical for Netflix to release all the episodes of its shows on its launch date so subscribers usually finish everything on the same day.
“Narcos: Mexico” is considered over and viewers were able to get a glimpse of the drug trade in the 1980s. It also offered a brief history of how the drug lords started the business and eventually grew it to be one of the world’s most successful illegal trades.
Moreover, it touched on the life of Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna) and his notorious Guadalajara Cartel. He built the drug empire in Mexico and it was revealed in “Narcos: Mexico” that some of the powerful politicians are backing him up thus his business was able to flourish.
On the other hand, Kiki Camarena (Michael Pena), the undercover DEA agent was able to locate the marijuana plantation and it was eventually raided. However, his life was put on the line because of his role in the bust and unfortunately, he died at the end.
Some fans who watched “Narcos: Mexico” did not like the ending but they should know that the story was based on real-life events so this means that they only followed the original story to give the viewers a realistic account of what transpired during the drug war in the 80s in Mexico.
Finally, since “Narcos: Mexico” was well-received, will there be another installment? Showrunner Eric Newman told The Hollywood Reporter recently that he would love to do another one if Netflix will ask them. In fact, he already has some ideas in mind in case they have to do “Narcos” season 5.
“Of course. I love it,” Newman said. “It’s the greatest and most satisfying professional endeavor of my life, and to write and creatively steer this show, for now, four seasons, it would be unique even if I hadn’t been a movie producer for the first 20 years of my career.”
