CBS has not ordered “NCIS” season 17 yet but it is still early to panic since the sixteenth season is still airing. There are five more episodes to go before the show concludes its run so there is still time for the TV network to decide.
But while there is no decision yet, “NCIS” season 17 is highly likely to return because it was able to maintain its good ratings. As everyone already knows, most networks based their decisions on the show’s performance and the number of viewers. With this said, fans can expect the announcement to come a few months from now.
In fact, Kelly Kahl, president of CBS Entertainment, said that she believes there will be “NCIS” season 17. This is because she is aware that the long-running police procedural drama has millions of followers worldwide.
“It’s pretty simple – viewers everywhere love NCIS,” Variety quoted Kelly Kahl as saying. “This show speaks to viewers of all ages, in all parts of the country and around the world.”
To prove the show’s popularity, Express reported that from 2009 to 2017, “NCIS” beat the other popular dramas - “Game of Thrones” and “The Walking Dead,” in terms of the number of viewers in the world. This detail is enough to confirm that there will be “NCIS” season 17.
“NCIS” season 17 is expected to feature at least 14 episodes and Mark Harmon will still lead the cast as Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Contrary to reports, he will not be leaving the show and besides fans want him there because the drama will never be the same without him. Fans truly want him to remain so the actor will definitely stay even if he has other projects on the side.
When “NCIS” season 17, aside from Mark Harmon, Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) and Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) will definitely be part of the show again. Meanwhile, season 16 is ending in May or June.
