With Pauley Perrette having left the show at the end of season 15, and with Mark Harmon being the only original cast member who still makes regular appearances, fans are asking if “NCIS” season 16 should look into expanding the regular cast.

While Diona Reasonover has already been promoted to a regular spot for the season, and season 15 introduced us to Jack Sloane, played by Maria Bello, as a new season regular, “NCIS” does seem to be in a rocky spot with most of its cast.
Jennifer Esposito's Alexandra Quinn did not even make it past season 14, where she got introduced. It seems fans are experiencing something similar to the empty nest syndrome due to the volatile casting of the show recently.
Fans can probably expect more fallout from the cast in season 16, considering the season finale put Jack Sloane in a very precarious position. Should Sloane survive the ordeal, fans are not assured that Bello will remain as a series regular due to the actress still having that tentative spot in the “The Walking Dead” season 9 waiting in the wings. Should a season 9 casting for “The Walking Dead” push through for Bello, we may be looking at a Quinn-like exit for Sloane sometime soon.
Still, fans can be assured that even if there are no further announcements of promotions to series regular aside from Diona Reasonover, the show has had instances where certain characters are promoted to regular cast members mid-season.
But much like empty nest syndrome, does simply replacing those who have left fill the void? If not, fans probably think of looking into giving more love to “NCIS's” sister shows such as "NCIS: New Orleans" and "NCIS: Los Angeles." Dedicated fans should look towards Sept. 25 when “NCIS” season 16 premieres.
