'NCIS' Season 16 Air Date and Spoiler: Mark Harmon-led Series Welcomes Pauley Perrette's Replacement

Looks like "NCIS" Season 16 has a big announcement for fans who have been left wanting more after Pauley Perrette's departure in Season 15. The loss of the quirky goth forensic scientist who had been with the show for 15 years is a large hit to the cast dynamic.

Thankfully, CBS has seen it fit to find someone whom “Ducky” Mallard, played by David McCallum, trusts just as much as Perrette's Abby Sciuto to replace the much-beloved character. Diona Reasonover, who played Kasie Hines in a couple of episodes in Season 15, will be taking a spot alongside the show's main cast, effectively becoming the teams main forensic scientist.

The official CBS Twitter page has tweeted a photo of Reasonover, welcoming the young actress as a full-time member of the cast for “NCIS” season 16.

Reasonover's addition to the cast as a member of “Ducky” Mallard's legacy is a welcome addition to the show as McCallum himself may be looking towards minimizing his time on the series as well to focus more time with his family.

I am delighted to say that I have reached an agreement with CBS for Dr. Donald Mallard to stay with NCIS for Season 16....

Kasie Hines, one of "Ducky's” graduate assistants, first appeared in season 15 episode 17 “One Man's Trash,” where she was introduced as the assistant “Ducky” hires to help keep him on schedule while working on his newest book about his crime autopsy experiences.

In episode 23 of the same season, titled “Fallout,” Gibbs brings in Hines as a forensic agent to fill in for Sciuto's departure from “NCIS”. Hines was also present during the season's last episode where much of Jack Sloane's background started to unfold. While Sloane is a forensic psychologist herself as part of the “NCIS” team, considering the cliffhanger state that we found her at the end of season 15, there is a possibility that she will need the young Hines' help in season 16 if she ever makes it out alive.
