“NCIS: New Orleans" Season 5 will have its headliner, Pride (Scott Bakula), out of action for a while as the previous installment saw the character taking multiple gunshots to the chest. CBS has already cast Necar Zadegan as Hannah Khoury to temporarily substitute as the squad’s leader.
“NCIS: New Orleans” Season 5 will have LaSalle (Lucas Black) and the unit hunt down the hitman responsible for the attempted assassination, with Khoury providing useful insight to the search. CBS described the new character as an agent well-versed in intelligence gathering and is set to provide an “international flavor” to the police procedural drama.
Aside from Zadegan, Reggie Lee will be reprising his role as Assistant Special Agent in Charge Steven Thompson. Thompson and Pride will be at odds in “NCIS: New Orleans" Season 5 as their approaches to getting things done are polar opposites.
But since Pride nearly died, perhaps Thompson will ease up on his colleague in “NCIS: New Orleans" Season 5. After all, the two of them should work together if they want to get their hands on this unknown and slippery assassin.
The team’s investigative acumen will surely be put to the test now that Pride will not be able to lead them. While this may be bad for the unit, it’s a great opportunity for writers to further expound on the characters of the show. “NCIS: New Orleans" Season 5 can potentially explore who really is up to the task when a situation turns from bad to worse, especially now that the whole squad’s morale took a hit.
As for Pride himself, showrunner Christopher Silber said that “NCIS: New Orleans" Season 5 will have the character go on a spiritual journey and question why fate decided to let him live. Silber went on to say that Pride will delve deep into his past and uncover truths that he hasn’t truly considered before, Variety reported.
But it’s not just Pride who will be questioning where he stands at this point. Each member of the squad will also go through introspections of their own, asking themselves what they really want. This is a great avenue to explore in “NCIS: New Orleans" Season 5 as character development is one of the foundations of exceptional storytelling.
What’s more, “NCIS: New Orleans" Season 5 will feature the police procedural’s 100th episode. Fans can expect big things from this milestone, with the possibility of the assassin arc being resolved when this particular episode airs. The fifth installment is slated to premiere on television this Sept. 25.
