“My Hero Academia” is a property that has reached significant success both in Japan and abroad with many fans loving everything to do with it. Aside from the manga and anime, the IP has also gotten a movie treatment and there have been reports of a live-action film in the works. Now, it is also getting a stage play adaptation, which should prove interesting.

The new “My Hero Academia” project will reportedly be called “My Hero Academia: The Ultra Stage.” It is expected to debut in Japan next Spring, in Tokyo and Osaka, so fans of the series can visit those places if they want to see the play. The stage adaptation of the property will also reportedly be handled by Yotai Mutoyoshi with the story being based on the manga.

As to why anyone would believe that a stage play of “My Hero Academia” would actually work, the answer is the same with all the other adaptations of the popular property. Basically, it’s the perfect balance of everything popular right now. The characters are in their teens with cool adult mentors who also happen to be superheroes and the story also includes a high school setting.

More than anything else, these are what makes “My Hero Academia” so successful as an entertainment medium since it hits all of the notes that the modern audience is interested in right now. There is no doubt that as the years pass, new readers and viewers will find something else to like. For now, though, this is the format that is proving popular.

The “My Hero Academia” stage play has yet to announce the cast that will play the iconic characters of the franchise. However, fans can expect that they will all be Japanese and that the play will only be available in Japanese. This clarification is just in case anyone was wondering.
