The fifth season of “Money Heist” was just announced not long ago and as the drama was already confirmed, the production works are now in full swing. While fans feel certain that Netflix will renew this crime drama for another season as soon as the fourth installment concluded, a word from the video streaming provider is still needed for it to become official thus the announcement was met with great excitement.
Did Netflix reveal the fifth season is the last?
The confirmation for “Money Heist” season 5 was posted on the drama’s social media page on July 31. However, there was a bit of confusion with the news because while it is clearly a pronouncement of the fifth installment’s renewal, the caption also seems to suggest that it will be the final run.
“Part 5: The heist comes to an end,” the caption reads. Plus, the famous “Money Heist” mask was lying on the ground. It is a bit buried with dirt on the face and part of it was cracked so those who saw it are convinced that Netflix is ending the popular show after season 5.
Then again, as of now, only Netflix knows what it really means but the viewers are hoping it has a different interpretation from what they think it is. Still, the possibility for more episodes beyond the upcoming fifth is very high as the show is one of the site’s top-raters.
New character teased as El Professor’s new tough rival
The Express reported that Alex Pina may have hinted that a new character is coming in to serve as El Professor’s (Álvaro Morte) nemesis in “Money Heist” season 5. The speculation about the addition of a new rival in the cast lineup surfaced when Alicia Sierra, the brutal police officer who showed extreme hatred for the group involved in heists, was fired from her job.
In the previous episodes, she was obviously El Professor’s nastiest enemy, but with her out of the picture, it is still not great for the heist leader because the position is now open for someone else. Now with the new casting that was revealed by Alex Pina himself, he named Miguel Ángel Silvestre and Patrick Criado as new cast members. Fans are quick to deduce that one of these actors will be a police officer and will be El Professor’s new rival in “Money Heist” season 5.
Finally, filming for the “Money Heist” season 5 has resumed and this was confirmed after Ursula Corbero (Tokyo) and Pedro Alonso (Berlin) were spotted on the set. The former also posted on social media that her character is back and she’s asking fans for good luck as she starts working.
