Miranda Lambert, along with her band Pistol Annies, released their latest album recently. But a particular song called “Got My Name Changed Back” is making headlines as reports suggest it could be a subtle diss track aimed at her ex-husband, Blake Shelton.
The opening lines of the song read, “It takes a judge to get married, it takes a judge to get divorced / Well the last couple years, I've spent a lot of time in court.” And following the recent release of its official music video, Radar Online suggested that the song could be conveying Lambert’s “dislike” for her ex.
On the other hand, Lambert never admitted to the song being particularly about Shelton and she may never address that. But back in August, the country music icon talked to The Tennessean about the Pistol Annies’ latest album and it might give fans a hint on whether or not the song in question is about Shelton.
“Since our last record, we’ve had two divorces, a marriage, two babies and one on the way. Now we’ve got two husbands, one single and happy, and I just feel like we live such crazy lives,” Miranda Lambert said. “That’s a lot of life to be lived in just five years between three women, and I feel like we’re just telling the story of what all of that is and doing it very honestly.”
Lambert and Shelton got married in 2011 but their divorce was confirmed four years later in July 2015. “This is not the future we envisioned and it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately,” the exes said in a joint statement. “We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends, and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
Since they parted ways, Shelton has been in a solid relationship with Gwen Stefani. Meanwhile, Lambert dated fellow music artist Evan Felker for some months until her interview with The Tennessean confirmed their split.
