Michael Schumacher is still one of the most mentioned Formula One racer even if he is not appearing in any events anymore. He could be an audience or part of executives in teams since he officially retired in 2011, but he is not able to do this since he was gravely injured while skiing in late 2012.
The accident left Michael Schumacher with traumatic brain injury. It was so severe that doctors saw the need for him to be placed in a medically-induced coma so he can survive.
Almost seven years since his freak accident, the F1 world champion hasn’t made any single public appearance yet. His family has been secretive about his health condition, but many think that he is still bedridden or perhaps, paralyzed.
Where is Schumi today?
After months in a comatose state, Michael Schumacher finally woke up, but it is uncertain when this exactly happened as his family refused to release or share any info. It was believed that from a hospital in Switzerland, he was brought home so he could just be taken care of in the confines of their mansion.
The family also thinks this is the safest choice because he is not secured in a hospital. In fact, a man was arrested after stealing Schumi’s medical records and leaking it to the press when he was still being treated in 2014.
In connection with this, an employee of helicopter ambulance company Rega and was arrested. However, The Guardian reported that before he could face the judge, he was found hanged in his jail cell.
Another time, it was reported that a journalist disguised himself as a priest so he could enter Michael Schumacher's room. Luckily, he was caught and arrested.
It was for these instances that the Schumacher family may have decided to just continue the F1 champ’s treatments and rehabilitation at home. Thus, up to this day, Schumi is believed to be staying his Switzerland home where a room was transformed for his care. He has his own nurses, doctors, and caregivers who tend to him day and night.
Schumi’s condition - Is he paralyzed?
Express reported that in 2014, Michael Schumacher was paralyzed, and he is in a wheelchair. But it has been about six years since this news came out and he could have made progress and healthier today.
This month, Jean Todt, Michael Schumacher’s former boss, and long-time friend revealed to the Daily Mail that “he is still fighting.” He did not elaborate, but it can be assumed that the racing champ is well and still in the process of recovering.
