Michael Schumacher’s family is finally opening up for the first time with regards to the racing champ’s condition and life after his skiing accident in December 2013. Schumi’s wife and father will reveal details through a documentary that will be released at the end of this year in Germany in Switzerland.
According to The Daily Mail, Schumacher’s wife, Corinna, and father, Rolf, will speak for the first time in front of the camera to talk about the ski accident that almost took his life more than five years ago. The documentary about the world-famous F1 legend will be unveiled this week while the film version titled “Schumacher” will be out in theaters in December.
The film was directed by Michael Wech and Hanns-Bruno Kammertöns and it is already in the last phase of post-production works. Sabine Kehm, Schumacher’s family’s spokesperson told Variety, “His outstanding career deserves to be celebrated and we are happy this film will be in the hands of such ambitious and sensitive professionals.”
Likewise, the film producers at B | 14 Film, Benjamin Seikel and Vanessa Nöcker, also expressed how grateful they were for the trust given by the Schumacher family. “We are thrilled to have the trusting cooperation of Michael Schumacher’s family and management,” they said. “Without their support, this film would not have been possible.”
Nöcker went on to say that it is high time for the life story of Michael Schumacher story to be revealed via film. “It is time for a film. And it goes without saying that we are very much aware of the great responsibility we bear here,” she stated.
Meanwhile, since the Michael Schumacher film will only be released in German-speaking countries, the film rights for its release to other countries around the world will be made available at the upcoming Cannes Festival. It was said that the license will also be extended to major streaming sites for wider coverage. In any case, Schumi’s condition is expected to be revealed in the documentary.
