NBA legend Michael Jordan has launched his debut NFT collection following the announcement of his new Solana-based platform, HEIR.
The first NFT collection launch, dubbed 6 Rings, is heavily inspired by Jordan’s six championships with the Chicago Bulls.
Each holder would be designated as a “founding fan” and would get access to exclusive content and “Huddles” or limited access communities.
HEIR sold 5,005 Solana NFTs at approximately $221 apiece as an homage to Jordan’s iconic jersey number.
The startup originally planned to sell 10,010 NFTs but halved the target due to slow sales.
A collaborative project between the legendary NBA basketball player and his son Jeffrey Jordan, HEIR has not yet announced the other athletes to be featured on the platform.
HEIR is not Jordan’s first launch into Web3 having already joined a $46 million funding round for Metaplex Foundation and invested in crypto game maker Mythical Games.
