DURHAM, N.C., Oct. 10, 2017 -- MetaMetrics®, developer of the widely adopted Lexile® Framework for Reading, is pleased to announce its partnership with Rising Stars, a Hodder Education Group company and a leading publisher of print and digital learning resources. Rising Stars will provide Lexile® measures, alongside familiar book band information, for all titles within the online library platform for their brand new Rising Stars Reading Planet series.
"Finding the right books is key to fostering a lifelong interest in reading in young learners," stated Malbert Smith, Ph.D., CEO, President and Co-Founder of MetaMetrics. "The addition of Lexile measures to Rising Stars Reading Planet helps ensure that children are reading books that are suited to their individual reading levels."
Reading Planet will provide Lexile measures for its collection which has launched with a growing collection of over 200 books and offer a Lexile search feature within Reading Planet’s Online Library. The Reading Planet Online Library is a clear, intuitive and motivating online reading programme for Reception and KS1.
"Reading Planet brings new enthusiasm to reading with modern stories, settings and characters," says Helen Parker, Publisher of Reading Planet. "The addition of Lexile measures allows us to further encourage reading growth by helping teachers to choose books at the right level of challenge for their young learners." See Teach Primary article (September 17), What the L? for further information about how Lexile measures enhance Book Band information for teachers.
Lexile measures place readers and texts on a common scale, matching children with appropriately challenging reading materials. And to better encourage reading growth for even the youngest learner, Hodder will be utilising MetaMetrics’ recent enhancements to more precisely measure the text complexity of reading materials aimed at early and developing readers. MetaMetrics recently advanced the science behind measuring text complexity of early-reading materials. Rising Stars leveraged MetaMetrics’ latest innovation in the content development process to ensure the type of reading materials that are produced contain text characteristics that are ideal for their intended audience. Recognized as the standard for individually matching readers with texts, tens of millions of students worldwide receive Lexile measures to help them choose targeted readings from more than 100 million articles, books and websites that have been measured.
