Melania Trump does not seem to be letting Donald Trump’s political woes put a damper on their Christmas celebrations at the White House. Just days after the majority of the Congress voted to impeach her husband, the first lady let her Twitter followers witness how an 18-foot Christmas tree was assembled in one of the areas in their official residence.
Melania Trump shows followers how White House Christmas tree is built
As the week of Christmas approached, Melania Trump shared with her over 12.8 million Twitter followers the building of possibly the tallest Christmas tree right now in the White House. In a minute-long timelapse video, fans and critics of the first lady may now witness how the decor was assembled by people from the National Park Service in the middle of the Blue Room.

In the White House’s official page for Christmas 2019, it is confirmed as the “official White House Christmas tree” that was decorated mostly of paper flowers made by hand. “The Blue Room tree pays homage to the distinctive floral emblem of every state and territory,” the official statement reads.
The first lady of the country has been traditionally in charge of holiday preparations, most importantly, the White House decorations for Christmas every year. However, Melania Trump's previous Christmas decoration choices ended up being an internet meme. In 2018, the first lady unveiled that the White House was clad with red trees that were later referred to as “blood trees” by netizens.
Melania Trump faces backlash over Donald Trump’s tweet vs. Greta Thunberg
The weeks leading to Christmas and New Year were quite far from being festive for Melania Trump and her family. Before getting impeached by the House of Representatives, Donald Trump made headlines after another Twitter rant after Time magazine announced climate activist Greta Thunberg as the 2019 Person of the Year.
People immediately defended the 16-year-old activist, especially after Donald Trump dismissed her as having Anger Management that she needs to work on. Melania Trump, whose Be Best campaign promises to tackle cyberbullying, did not directly address people’s calls to denounce her husband’s actions.

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham addressed the backlash on behalf of Melania Trump insisting that the first lady stays true to her Be Best initiative and in helping children. But the statement, shared by CNN correspondent Kate Bennett, did not address people’s claim of Donald Trump bullying a teenage activist and only stated that the Trumps “communicate differently.”
