Meghan Markle is now the Duchess of Sussex after marrying Prince Harry in May. From being an actress, she is now part of the royal family that is involved in humanitarian works. Now, does this mean that she is not invited to this year’s Emmy Awards?
Prior to tying the know with Prince Harry, she was known as Rachel Zane in the hit paralegal drama “Suits” so she is naturally invited to the ceremony. However, The The Sun reported that Meghan Markle turned down the invitation. But why?
According to Life & Style, the Duchess of Sussex really wants to be at the awards night but she was forced to skip the event because Queen Elizabeth and Prince Harry said “No.”
“Meghan couldn’t wait to show Harry off, but the palace wouldn’t allow it,” a source reportedly told the tabloid. “There’s a lot of planning that goes into a trip now that she’s a Duchess. Nevertheless, it was a bit of a letdown.”
Before this report gets out of hand, Gossip Cop wrote that there is no truth to this story. The publication proved its claim by pointing out that in the first place, Meghan Markle is not nominated for an Emmy award.
Likewise, although she starred in “Suits,” her name was not on the nominees’ list so there is no reason for her to be at the event unless she wants to watch the ceremony. And even if her former show has a nomination, she is not part of it anymore so her attendance is not really necessary.
GC further stated that since leaving the show business, Meghan Markle has clearly moved on to the next chapter of her life as a duchess in the U.K. She is considered retired and with her new role, there is no way she is going back to acting.
Meanwhile, the 2018 Emmy Awards took place on Sept. 17 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. It was broadcast live on NBC so millions of people worldwide were able to watch the annual event.
