McDonald's China added a new dessert to its menu, and it was really odd; thus, it gathered various comments from customers. The fast-food chain launched the Coriander Sundae, which is also known as the Cilantro Sundae.
The outlandish flavor of the new frozen dessert at McDonald's China left more customers disappointed than happy because the main flavoring is actually a leafy plant that is often used in pasta and other dishes but never in a dessert.
As India Times reported, the new Cilantro Sundae is the latest version of the McDonald's popular soft-serve ice cream. This treat features vanilla ice cream drizzled with green coriander lime sauce and topped with finely chopped fresh leaves of the herb.
The taste has been described as sweet and sour with a hint of fresh fragrance. The Cilantro Sundae was first released at McDonald's China on Feb. 21, and it will be available at stores across the nation until Feb. 25.
"Mcdonald's China launched a Cilantro Sundae special menu item today, which is interesting," the restaurant said in a statement via the Xiaohongshu, a local social media and e-commerce platform. "Coriander gang, raise up your hands, the sweet and fresh coriander sundae has arrived.

McDonald's China is actually known for adding bizarre food items to its menu. This means that this is not the first time it has offered a dish that leaves people baffled.
For instance, in 2020, it has created the Span Oreo Burger sandwich, and it left customers stunned. This is because the sandwich is made with Spam, Oreo cookie crumbs, and mayonnaise.
The ingredients are delicious on their own, but it is a very different story when McDonald's China tried to put them together to make an odd sandwich, and many customers agreed as some of them find the combination unpleasant. In any case, while there may be some "violent" reactions to the new Coriander Sundae, there are customers who are thrilled to have it and wish for it to be made available in more stores and even outside of China, as per the Daily Mail.
