McDonald's has partnered with Detective Conan to launch new menu items in Japan. This is the first time the restaurant has collaborated with this Japanese detective character, who was made famous via a manga series.
According to Anime News Network, the McDonald's x Detective Conan exclusive partnership in the region was unveiled on Thursday, April 11. For springtime, the partners will offer two limited-time burgers, and video ads have already been rolled out to inform fans about the latest food addition in McDonald's Japan stores.
McDonald's Detective Conan Commercial
The fast-food chain posted videos of commercials featuring the Japanese manga character on its X account to introduce its new offerings. Fans will surely be happy to know that aside from Detective Conan Edogawa himself, other characters in the series, such as Ai Haibara, Hiroshi Agasa, and Heiji Hattori, were also in the ad. Well-loved supporting characters - Ayumi Yoshida, Kogoro Mori, Genta Kojima, Ran Mori, and Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya - have also made special cameo appearances.
McDonald's unveiled two new menus in the clips: the Rice Chicken Tatsuta and Yūrinchii or Rice Aburinji Cheese Chicken Tatsuta. These sandwich items are served in special rice buns instead of the typical bread buns. At any rate, the new McDonald's commercials show Detective Conan and his friends trying to "investigate" to find the secret behind the new sandwiches.
Price and Availability
In a press release, McDonald's revealed that the Rice Chicken Tatsuta is made with rice buns using 100% Koshihikari rice grown in Niigata Prefecture. This sandwich features soy sauce-flavored rice buns and soft fried chicken (tatsuta) patty. Customers can buy this for ¥ 490 a la carte or ¥ 790 for a value meal with a drink and fries.
The Rice Aburinji Cheese Chicken Tatsuta has the same rice buns as the Chicken Tatsuta, but this option has white cheddar cheese and is drizzled with a special sauce with citrus juice. It can be purchased for ¥ 540 a la carte or ¥840 for a meal set. Finally, McDonald's will release the new menus nationwide on April 17.
