Mars Wrigley has issued a voluntary recall for some batches of its popular candy brands, including Skittles, Starburst, and Life Savers. The affected bags of gummies were said to have been distributed in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
As per CNN Business, Mars Wrigley’s Skittles, Starburst, and Life Savers baggs of gummies received some complaints from customers due to the presence of possible thin metal strands inside the bags. As a result, the company immediately recalled the said products.
The American multinational confectionery and food manufacturer headquartered in McLean, Virginia, said in a statement that while complaints had been filed with them, it is not aware of any injuries or illnesses resulting from the cause of the recall, which is the metal strands.
The recall affects just some types and batches of Skittles, Starburst, and Life Savers. Customers can easily check if the gummies they bought are affected by simply chacking the first three numbers in the 10-digit manufacturing code that can be found at the back of the packet. The numbers are listed on the recall notice that was also published by Mars Wrigley.
“Mars Wrigley Confectionery US, LLC will work with retailers to remove recalled products from store shelves,” the company said in a press release. “If consumers believe they have purchased a recalled item, they should dispose of the product and not consume it.”
In any case, Mars Wrigley said that the affected Skittles, Life Savers, and Starburst candy gummies were manufactured by a third-party partner. It assured the customers that it is working to take the recalled products out of the shelves in the mentioned locations where they were distributed.
If customers think that they have bought the recalled gummies, they should throw them away and contact Mars Wrigley by calling 1-800-651-2564 or visiting the company website if they have more questions about the recall. It was not mentioned if the company is refunding or replacing the purchased recalled items.
Meanwhile, the varieties of the recalled Skittles, Starburst, and Life Servers gummies include the STARBURST Gummies Original, STARBURST Gummies Sours, STARBURST Gummies Sours, STARBURST Gummies Sour Berries, Life Savers Gummies Five Flavor, Life Savers Wild Berries Gummies, Life Savers Sour Gummies, SKITTLES Gummies Original, SKITTLES Wild Berry Gummies, and SKITTLES Sour Gummies.
