‘Love Island’ 2018: Reality Show Accused of Fakery; Complaints Pour in About Controversial Scenes

Love Island

“Love Island” season 4 ended but it left many questions. It also became the talk of the town as many accused the show of being fake. Can the participants really find their perfect match and true love via the artificial environment?

As viewers know, “Love Island” is a reality show where single men and women join in to search for their partners. Once they find love in Majorca, the winning couple is bound to receive 50,000 pounds as cash prize. The monetary reward alone already makes the viewers think that the romance scenes on the island are all scripted and the participants pretend to fall in love for the prize.

As the rumors of fakery beset “Love Island,” a body language expert revealed her observations. According to Metro, body language expert Judi James confirmed that there were instances when the men and women on the show were faking it "to keep the drama going."

The participants declared their love, shed tears, got upset and many more but not all of these feelings were expressed from the heart. But of course, the show will deny this.

In any case, aside from rumors of being fake, “Love Island” got many complaints from viewers too. The latest season recorded a whopping 4,000 Ofcom complaints, Mirror reported. With that number, this made the last season the most controversial yet.

Based on the report, complaints poured in despite the fact that “Love Island” season 4 had fewer smoking, drinking and explicit sex scenes compared to the previous seasons. Most of the complaints were about the alleged emotional manipulation of Dani Dyer and when viewers witnessed how the participants lied to their co-participants.

Meanwhile, amid the controversies, BBC reported that “Love Island” remained strong in the viewer rating charts. It registered more than 4 million viewers, which is 50 percent higher than in 2017.

“Love Island” 2018’s final winners are Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham. The champions reportedly won by a landslide, with almost 80 percent of the viewers’ votes going to them.
