MORRISTOWN, N.J., Dec. 14, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Louis Berger recently won a $2.7 million contract to support the first phase of Strengthening Moses-Adirondack with Resilient Technology (SMART) Path, the replacement of the Moses-Adirondack transmission lines in St. Lawrence and Lewis Counties, New York.
Under this contract with the New York Power Authority (NYPA), Louis Berger will provide environmental permitting and licensing services, deliver relevant studies, assessments and expert testimony, participate in community outreach, and interact with various regulatory agencies. The three-year project will include approximately 85 miles of rebuild.
"We're excited to work on this large transmission line job for NYPA," said Tim Gaul, Louis Berger vice president for power and energy. "These lines will ensure uninterrupted reliable electric service for millions of users and are vital to modernizing the state's energy infrastructure."
Louis Berger teamed up with subconsultants Haley & Aldrich, a New York environmental and permitting firm, and Environmental Solutions & Innovations, Inc., an environmental consulting firm, to win this project.
Governor Andrew Cuomo recently announced the approval of this North Country energy project to help improve the reliability of electricity transmission in the region and throughout New York state. The SMART Path project is part of the New York Energy Highway Blueprint initiative, an important building block of the governor's Reforming the Energy Vision strategy, which works to ensure the state's power grid is the most advanced in the nation and promotes increased business investment in New York.
