‘Legends of Tomorrow’ season 2’s episode 17, titled “Aruba,” will follow the team as they are forced to break a cardinal rule of time travel after a timequake cause problems for their ship. They will also have the face the consequences of ultimately destroying the Spear of Destiny.
The synopsis for episode 17 posted on TV Guide reads, “Season 2 ends with a massive timequake rocking the Legends' ship, which forces them to break the one cardinal rule of time travel in order to fix the problem. But if they are able to destroy the spear, they will face the ultimate consequence.”
The previous episodes saw Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell) betraying the Legends by joining Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller) and the Legion of Doom. This led to the villains procuring the much-coveted Spear of Destiny, which has the power to manipulate destiny much to the dismay of the Legends. However, in an ironic turn of events, Mick was the only one who could save the Legends from their bleak fate.
Amaya’s (Maisie Richadrson Sellers) fight in retrieving the spear led to her demise by the hands of Snart. However, Thawne (Matt Letscher) managed to destroy the Spear, trapping the Legends in the alternate reality.
In the upcoming episode, the superhero team will have to face the consequences of having destroyed the Spear of Destiny. They will also need to break one of the most fundamental rules of time travel in order to fix their ship, which was affected by a huge timequake.
The Legends will have to travel back in time to stop the Spear from landing in the wrong hands. According to International Business Times, the team will find themselves in the year 1916 in France in the midst of World War I. They will also meet past versions of themselves and will need to convince them that they are allies instead of enemies.
In the promo, Ray’s (Brandon Routh) past self punches future Sara (Caity Lotz) when the two sets of Legends go head to head in the field of battle. Jax (Franz Drameh) then tries to appease the past Legends by pleading, “We’re not imposters!”
‘Legends of Tomorrow’ season 2’s episode 17, titled “Aruba,” is scheduled to air on The CW on April 4, 2017. It was directed by Rob Seidenglanz and written by Phil Klemmer and Marc Guggenheim.
