Lee Min Ho is starring in “The King: The Eternal Monarch” and this was confirmed barely two weeks after he was discharged from the army. This will be his comeback drama, and it is expected to be another big project written by popular writer Kim Eun Sook.
After Min Ho was announced to be the said drama’s lead actor, the production team have decided on the lead actress, and it was revealed to be “Goblins” star Kim Go Eun. The cast lineup is not yet complete as they are selecting carefully to have the best actor for the support roles in “The King: The Eternal Monarch.”
Now, after Go Eun was named as the lead actress, the next cast member to be revealed is Woo Do Hwan. According to Sports Seoul, his agency, Key East Entertainment, confirmed on June 3 that the 26-year-old would join Lee Min Ho as one of the supporting actors. This will be his first time to work with the “Heirs” actor, and in Eun Sook-written dramas, so he is quite excited to start filming.
As mentioned on Kpopmap, “The King: The Eternal Monarch” is a fantasy drama that will feature two worlds - the past and the present times. It will tackle a story about two parallel universes where the characters will have completely different identities in the past and present, but they will work together to close the door that was opened in the ancient times allowing people there to see the modern-day Joseon or South Korea.
Lee Min Ho will be emperor Lee Gon while Kim Go Eun will be detective Jung Tae Eul and Luna. On the other hand, Woo Do Hwan will play Jo Eun Seob, who is a public service worker in the present time Korea will be Jo Young, emperor Lee Gon’s bodyguard in the Joseon times.
Min Ho’s “The King: The Eternal Monarch” will be directed by PD Baek SangHoon. He is known to have helmed other hit drama series such as “School 2015” and co-director in “Descendants of the Sun.”
Lee Min Ho is expected to begin filming in the second half of 2019. “The King: The Eternal Monarch” will premiere in 2020.
