Lee Min Ho’s return to K-Drama will not become official until his next TV project is released, but it is already becoming an apparent blockbuster series. Another big star, Woo Do Hwan, has been confirmed to star alongside Lee.
Woo is reportedly cast to play one of the main characters in Lee’s upcoming drama with the working title “The King: The Eternal Monarch.” So far, the details about the show give fans a reason to expect highly from it. Taking on the screenwriter duties is Kim Eun Sook, who has been popular for her other brilliant works, including “Descendants of the Sun.”
Lee and Woo will also star alongside “Goblin” star Kim Go Eun. This means that “The King: The Eternal Monarch” is going to be a reunion for Lee, Eun Sook, and Go Eun. The famous writer worked with Lee on “Heirs” while she also penned “Goblin.” Meanwhile, this is Woo and Eun Sook’s first time working together.
Other reports claim that “The King: The Eternal Monarch” is slated to air within the first half of 2020. But Lee’s next drama, produced by Hwa&Dam Pictures, has yet to find a TV network. The show revolves around a parallel universe with two different timelines. Contrary to earlier reports, it now appears that Go Eun is the one to play two characters that will link the two worlds.
Her Earth-living character is named Jung Tae Eul while her otherworldly persona is Loona described as a criminal. Lee plays the role of Emperor Lee Gon, who seems to be working on making sure the portal between these worlds is sealed. Like Go Eun’s Jung Tae Eul, Woo’s character named Jo Eun Seob also lives in the present day Korea. But he will also have the second persona named Jo Young described as the bodyguard of Lee’s character.
“The King: The Eternal Monarch” is going to be Lee’s first project after completing his mandatory military service last April. Meanwhile, since the drama is still in its early productions, some of its plot details could still be changed in the coming months.
