Lee Min Ho’s last project before enlisting in the army in 2017 was “Legend Of The Blue Sea” with Jun Ji Hyun, and now that he is back from the military service, fans do not have to wait long before seeing him back on the small screen as his comeback drama is on the way. He was confirmed to star in “The King: The Eternal Monarch” which will reunite him with “Heirs” writer Kim Eun Sook.
According to Soompi, the title of Min Ho’s drama is still tentative which means it can still change while the production team works on finalizing every detail before filming begins. Needless to say, Park Shin Hye’s “Heirs” co-star will be the male lead and who his leading lady would be is still unknown as of this time.
“The King: The Eternal Monarch” will feature the “parallel worlds” concept where situations from the past and the future shows great similarities. For instance, the story will show the period when the Korean empire protects the country while in another world and time, a detective in modern-day Korea works to protect people.
Hwa&Dam Pictures is producing Lee Min Ho’s comeback drama and the company’s spokesperson, Yoon Ha Rim, revealed that filming is starting soon. “Nothing has been decided yet with regard to the broadcaster or any broadcasting details, but we have the director and the male lead, and we will begin filming sometime in the second half of this year,” he said.
Allkpop reported that Min Ho’s new drama is set to be directed by Paek Sang Hoon, the same person who guided Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo in “Descendants of the Sun. “The King: The Eternal Monarch” is expected to be released in the first half of 2020.
Meanwhile, Lee Min Ho is currently enjoying his vacation after being discharged from the army two weeks ago. Based on the photos on his social media, he is enjoying his free time out of the country.
