As the cameras roll for the filming of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” season 20, more and more casting details are confirmed. The latest news revealed that actor Dylan Walsh is returning to the show for another guest role.
Deadline reported on Tuesday that Walsh will be joining the list of recurring guest stars in “Law & Order: SVU” season 20 as a character named John Conway. According to the same report, John’s background is a rags-to-riches story.
John enters the “Law & Order: SVU” season 20 story as a successful businessman known as a “major beverage distributor.” It is unclear if John becomes the victim or a suspected individual. But the character seems to have a good background as he is “respected” by his family and his community.
Meanwhile, avid fans of the series may recall that this is not the first time Dylan Walsh is joining the show. In 2007, he starred in one episode as the mass murderer Malcolm Royce -- a completely different personality compared to his “Law & Order: SVU” season 20 role. John’s story is expected to be revealed soon after “Law & Order: SVU” season 20 premieres.
Recently, it was also confirmed that former “Scandal” actor George Newbern is joining “Law & Order: SVU” season 20 for a recurring role as Detective Amanda Rollins’s (Kelli Giddish) former lover named Dr. Pollack. Unlike Walsh, Newbern is likely to appear in more episodes due to the story laid out for his character.
In related news, several cast members of “Law & Order: SVU” season 20 have confirmed that they are back on set, thanks to their social media posts. On Wednesday, lead star Mariska Hargitay shared a group photo of her, Ice-T, and Peter Scanavino while on set.
Fans will have to wait a few more months before learning how John Conway and Dr. Pollack are going to be introduced in the series. But on a good note, the show has already a specific release date. “Law & Order: SVU” season 20 will premiere on Thursday, Sept. 27, at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
