Christmas is arriving early for fans of the Baxter family. “Last Man Standing” season 7 episode 9 is going to be a very special installment for a couple of reasons. First, it is going to be the show’s official holiday special. Second, all signs are pointing to Eve Baxter’s (Kaitlyn Dever) much-requested return.
This week, Fox released a brief preview for “Last Man Standing” season 7 episode 9. In one scene, the Baxter family is gathered in their living room to celebrate Christmas when someone they apparently did not expect rings the doorbell.
Before the visitor’s face is revealed, the “Last Man Standing” season 7 episode 9 promo video ends but the cast members’ expression of being happily shocked are obvious. This leads to the speculations that Eve is, indeed, going to return.

Luckily, fans do not have to play the guessing game since the “Last Man Standing” season 7 episode 9 official synopsis already confirmed Eve’s arrival. However, it sounds like it is just another temporary visit. The actress who plays Eve, Kaitlyn Dever, has been working on other TV and movie projects.
This was the confirmed reason why she has been missing in many episodes. “Last Man Standing” season 7 episode 9 happens to be one of the few installments where Dever will be reprising her role. “Kaitlyn Dever’s marvelous and of course she took other work while we were off… She’s currently doing a Netflix show, but they’re being really, really accommodating,” executive producer Kevin Abbott told TVLine in September.
Meanwhile, the Baxter holiday shenanigans in “Last Man Standing” season 7 episode 9 will include Mike’s (Tim Allen) quest in finding Ed (Hector Elizondo) a Christmas present. Mike initially thinks he can do it in no time but then he later realizes that it is “easier said than done.”
“Last Man Standing” season 7 episode 9 is going to be the final installment for 2018 airing on Friday, Dec. 14, at 8 p.m. ET on Fox. The show is slated to return in mid-February 2019.
