The Las Vegas Review-Journal has officially endorsed former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election, citing his strong policy achievements during his time in office. Despite acknowledging voter dissatisfaction with the current political landscape, the editorial board argues that Trump’s accomplishments are too significant to overlook.
In a statement published Sunday, the newspaper recognized the frustration many Americans feel with their presidential options but pointed to Trump’s economic and foreign policy successes as key reasons for their endorsement.
"Although many voters are dissatisfied with their choices for president, the policy results of Donald Trump’s years in office are too strong to ignore," the editorial declared. "From job creation to national security, Trump delivered real results that benefited the nation."
The Las Vegas Review-Journal, one of the largest and most influential newspapers in Nevada, has a history of leaning conservative. Still, its endorsement of Trump, despite his polarizing persona, highlights the enduring appeal of his policy record to certain voter segments.
During his tenure, Trump’s administration saw significant tax cuts, record-low unemployment rates prior to the pandemic, and trade deals like the USMCA (United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement), which replaced NAFTA. These accomplishments were praised by the paper as examples of Trump’s effectiveness as a leader.
While some critics point to Trump’s controversial rhetoric and divisive political style, the editorial board emphasized that voters should focus on the substance of his policies rather than the noise surrounding his personality.
"Trump’s approach may not have always been conventional, but the results speak for themselves," the paper stated. "His economic policies strengthened the country, and his foreign policy initiatives ensured that America remained a dominant global player."
This endorsement comes at a crucial moment in the 2024 campaign, with Nevada positioned as a key battleground state. Trump’s appeal to working-class voters and his promises to address economic challenges have resonated with many Nevadans, particularly in the Las Vegas area, which has seen fluctuating economic fortunes in recent years.
Despite the paper’s praise for Trump, it acknowledged the dissatisfaction many voters feel toward both major candidates. “The electorate is tired of the political bickering and personal attacks that have dominated the national conversation,” the editorial said. “But when it comes to delivering tangible results, Donald Trump stands out.”
However, the endorsement is not without controversy. Many Trump critics argue that his leadership style has contributed to the nation’s deepening political divisions and question his ability to lead the country toward unity. Still, the Review-Journal remains firm in its belief that his policies were effective and can be again.
The endorsement concluded by urging voters to focus on policy outcomes over personalities as they head to the polls in 2024. "America needs strong leadership, and Donald Trump has proven he can provide it,” the paper declared. “This election is about results, and his track record is impossible to ignore."
As Trump continues to rally support across the country, the endorsement from the Las Vegas Review-Journal could play a pivotal role in swaying undecided voters in Nevada and beyond.
