Lady Gaga has reportedly been through a lot. Her mom, Cynthia Germanotta, revealed that the “Shallow” suffered a downward spiral after she was raped.
During her interview on “Today” show’s digital series “Through Mom’s Eyes,” Germanotta heartbreakingly confirmed that Gaga suffered from mental illness. The “A Star Is Born” lead star was also taunted and bullied for being unique.
“You know, feeling isolated from events. Humiliated. Taunted. And she would start to question herself and become doubtful of her own abilities. And that’s when she developed depression. We tried our best as parents to help her, but didn’t know everything,” she said.
Since Gaga’s mental health struggles happened years ago, her mom admitted that she didn’t know much about its warning signs. Germanotta also acknowledged the fact that she wasn’t as attentive to her daughter’s needs.
But now that mental health has become a widely talked about issue, Gaga wants to be able to help those who are in need of support.
Meanwhile, Gaga also talked about her traumatic experience during an interview with Elle and said that she suffered from a psychotic breakdown.
“I was brought to the ER to urgent care and they brought in the doctor, a psychiatrist. So, I’m just screaming, and I said, ‘Could somebody bring me a real doctor?’ And I didn’t understand what was going on, because my whole body went numb; I fully dissociated,” she said.
In related news, the “Poker Face” singer also made headlines recently after she was once again linked to her “A Star Is Born” co-star, Bradley Cooper. Earlier this month, InTouch Weekly claimed that Gaga has moved on with another man after she realized that Cooper will never commit to her.
Woman’s Day previously claimed that Leonardo DiCaprio was also hitting on Gaga after Cooper dumped her. However, none of these claims are true. Gaga previously confirmed that she and Cooper were never an item. She also said that they seemed to be in love because of the roles that they portrayed in their first movie together.
