Korea's leading online game publisher, Neowiz, has announced a strategic partnership with Intella X and Ava Labs, aiming to develop blockchain-powered games on the Avalanche Network amid the rising popularity of Web3 gaming in the region.
CoinDesk noted that South Korea is fond of esports, online gaming, and blockchain games. The country's gaming culture is widespread and has a sizeable fanbase of different age demographics. As many Korean adults are also deeply absorbed in the games, local gaming has a huge consumer interest.
With many followers, many game publishers have started businesses in Korea, and Neowiz is currently in the top five based on market capitalization. The popularity of games in the region propelled these companies to success.
Now, Neowiz announced its intent to develop more games, but the plan is more ambitious this time. It will create blockchain games on the Avalanche Network, marking the company's momentous entry into Web3 gaming.
To achieve its goal, Neowiz's blockchain Web3 gaming platform, Intella X, has joined Avalanche Arcad3, a collaborative Web3 gaming education program for standard and crypto business projects, to develop new games. The Korean game publisher is now the fourth gaming firm in the top 100 to team up with Avalanche.
"With this partnership, Intella X and Ava Labs will actively exchange their expertise in Web3 game technology, network, and operational know-how," Neowiz's co-CEO, Taegeun "Andrew" Bae, stated in the partnership announcement. "Through insights into the Web3 market and comprehensive investment reviews, we aim to deliver high-quality Web3 games to our users."
Head of Gaming at Ava Labs, Ed Chang, also commented, "We couldn't be more excited to be collaborating with Neowiz and continuing to expand our robust gaming network in South Korea. Having such an experienced game publisher join Arcad3 will strengthen the whole program, and the expertise of the first Arcad3 cohort will position Neowiz to make the best possible entry into Web3 gaming."
